Today I am thankful for:
1. Carpenters. I just happened to look at our stairs from a little different perspective and thought about the carpentry skills that created something so pretty. I am thankful that we all have unique gifts and talents to offer that make the world such a beautiful, un-boring place.
2. Fall Carnivals. I got to work the “go fish” booth at our fall festival tonight. It was a delight to see the children’s faces all scrunched up in concentration as they balanced their magnetic fishing pole over the magnetic fish. Then came the smiles of delight as they hoisted up their catch, watching me to make sure I clapped in surprise. I met Thomas the Tank Engine, a red ninja, a black ninja, Flash Gordon, several princesses, Mini Mouse and Buzz Lightyear. The childlike joy was contagious!
3. Music Lessons. I have the privilege of taking my son and daughter to their music lessons every week. One of my very favorite sounds is my son’s drums vibrating through the house. My other favorite sound is my daughter running her hands up and down the piano keys practicing her scales. Music has always brought me a tremendous amount of joy and helped me express deep moments of sadness. I am thankful that my children have found a way to personally connect with music in their own life.
What are you thankful for today?
